Vaporizing Oils: Your 2021 Guide to CBD Vapes

CBD vaping is a trend that isn’t going anywhere anytime soon – especially when more and more health benefits from different vaporizing oils come to light each day.

But there are some things you should know about what should and should not be vaped to be as safe as possible, as well as which CBD oil type best benefits you.

Here, we’ll go over the different types of CBD oils, what to look out for in your vaporizing oils, and what options are available for your individual CBD needs.

Types of CBD Oils

It’s essential to understand the different CBD oil types before you begin vaping them for their potential benefits.

CBD Isolate

As you’d expect, CBD isolate is CBD without any of the other cannabinoids or terpenes from the plant. Most often vaped or used sublingually through tincture, this type of CBD contains no THC (though, even CBD that doesn’t have the THC filtered out will contain less than .3% – so it is not enough to get you high. More on those types later).

Since it’s strictly CBD without any other cannabinoids, taking the isolate version may make you miss any potential benefits that a cannabinoid combination may provide. As it’s known, the entourage effect of cannabis compounds is the speculation that multiple cannabinoids combined will enhance their benefits and reduce any adverse effects.

Full Spectrum CBD

If you use CBD oils or products considered full-spectrum, think of this as the full plant. All cannabinoids, terpenes, and fatty acids are intact, including THC. While it doesn’t contain enough THC to get you high (it must have under .3% to maintain legality in most places), it can show up on a drug test.

A full spectrum CBD gives you the entourage effect because none of the cannabinoids are filtered out. In addition to CBD, it contains CBN, CBG, THC, and more, allowing you to reap the entourage effect’s benefits. It is said that the full spectrum will have the most advantages since it utilizes all of the plant’s chemical compounds to enhance its potential healing properties.

But if you don’t wish to have THC, you may choose Broad Spectrum CBD.

Broad Spectrum CBD

Broad spectrum CBD is a happy medium for those that want to experience a milder entourage effect but don’t want the THC to potentially show on a drug test. Broad spectrum CBD contains all of the original cannabinoids from the plant and its other beneficial chemical compounds – but without THC.

Keep in mind, the FDA does not regulate CBD, so if you’re not buying from a trusted source, your product could contain THC, even if it’s labeled as an isolate or broad-spectrum. It’s important to always purchase your vaping oils and other CBD products from a reputable retailer, where you know just what you’re getting.

What to Look Out For When Vaporizing Oils

Vaping isn’t something to take lightly. You should always know exactly what you’re inhaling and its potential adverse effects. Since CBD is not FDA regulated, many companies will put other ingredients in with the CBD that may be dangerous to your health.

Vegetable Glycerin: Manufacturers put this ingredient in CBD vape to give a thick “smoke” upon exhale. While it seems to be an ingredient strictly for visual effect, it can be extremely toxic to your lungs.

Coconut oil: From a period between 2012 and 2018, it became common to use coconut oil in place of vegetable glycerin. Used as a thinning agent, it contains medium-chain triglycerides (MCT), which is unsafe for vaping and can cause pneumonia.

Propylene Glycol (PG): Another thinning agent, it has the potential to increase exposure to harmful carcinogenic compounds. PG can also convert into stronger toxins at high temperatures.

Polyethylene Glycol (PEG): This additive can be considered the most dangerous when heated as just one inhale of a vape containing PEG contains 1.12% of the daily exposure limit to formaldehyde.
