DELTA 8 THC TINCTURE FAQ
What is a Delta 8 THC tincture?
A Delta 8 THC tincture oil is a concentrated extract of Delta 8 THC, which is a compound often extracted from hemp plants that provides a slight buzz, and has slightly milder effects than Delta 9 THC. While a “tincture” is typically alcohol-based, at TribeTokes we use MCT oil, because fats carry cannabis oils into your system more efficiently, increasing the bioavailability and effectiveness of the product.
Customers often use Delta 8 CBD tinctures by placing a few drops under their tongue for sublingual absorption. This method allows for faster absorption into the bloodstream than swallowing it, and bypasses the effects of your digestive juices. However, a tincture can also be added to food or beverages, and many customers add them to fruit smoothies!
Delta 8 THC Tincture Vs. Vape: Can you smoke a THC Tincture?
Delta 8 THC Oil is referring to pure distilled D8, while a tincture is typically formulated with a carrier base such as MCT oil or alcohol to consume it. Pure D8 oil, or distillate, is what is used in vapes, but would taste very harsh, and would be way too sticky and thick to consume on it’s own – we don’t recommend it 🙂 You absolutely should NOT vape or smoke a THC Tincture of any kind – it contains MCT oil which is high in fat, and you should not inhale it into your lungs.
The best Delta 8 tinctures have all organic MCT oil as a carrier, are high potency and taste great, so be sure to read the labels carefully and look for these features when you buy THC CBD tincture.
How long does a Delta 8 THC tincture last in your system?
How long a D8 THC tincture stays in your system can depend on a few factors, including your dosage, metabolism, and individual body chemistry – everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different!
Generally, Delta 8 THC can be detectable in urine for several days to a few weeks, while it may linger in the bloodstream for a few hours to a few days. Keep in mind that individual responses can differ, so it’s always a good idea to be cautious if you have concerns about drug testing.
Why take D8 THC Tinctures vs. Edibles?
The benefits of a Delta 8 THC tincture is that they have a fast (~15 min) onset, and do not have any sugar. A pure D8 tincture is a great option for a diabetic, or if you want the added benefits of MCT Oil.
However, the onset of a full spectrum D8 tincture is much faster, typically 15 minutes vs. 30-90 minutes for edibles, depending on the person. This makes it easier to experiment as well – you can take a small amount, see how you feel in 20 minutes and then decide whether to take more or not.
For those wanting the FASTEST onset and zero calories, smoking or vaping is the best option – but some people simply never put anything in their lungs except oxygen! We respect that choice, which is why we create healthy Delta 8 THC edibles and tinctures for our customers as well.
Some also wonder if D8 THC tinctures are stronger than edibles – not necessarily (always read the mg on the label) – but since the bioavailability is higher since it bypasses your digestive juices, the effects of a tincture may be slightly stronger.
