CBD OIL TINCTURES FAQ
What is a CBD tincture?
A CBD tincture oil is a concentrated extract of cannabidiol (CBD), which is a compound often extracted from hemp plants that does not get you “high,” but has many benefits still being explored. While a “tincture” is typically alcohol-based, at TribeTokes we use MCT oil, because fats carry cannabis oils into your system more efficiently, increasing the bioavailability and effectiveness of the product.
Customers often use CBD tinctures by placing a few drops under their tongue for sublingual absorption. This method allows for faster absorption into the bloodstream than swallowing it, and bypasses the effects of your digestive juices. However, a tincture can also be added to food or beverages, and many customers add them to fruit smoothies!
CBD tinctures are sometimes called hemp tinctures, but beware of hemp oil tinctures on Amazon that do NOT actually have any CBD in them! These are often a scam :/
What is a CBD Tincture vs Oil?
CBD Oil is referring to pure distilled CBD, while a tincture is typically formulated with a carrier base such as MCT oil or alcohol to consume it. Pure CBD oil would taste very harsh, and would be way too sticky and thick to consume on it’s own – we don’t recommend it 🙂 The best CBD tinctures have all natural ingredients, are full spectrum, high potency and taste great, so be sure to read the labels carefully and look for these features when you buy CBD tincture.
How long does a CBD tincture last in your system?
How long a CBD tincture stays in your system can depend on a few factors, including your dosage, metabolism, and individual body chemistry – everyone’s endocannabinoid system is different!
Generally, CBD is thought to have a half life of 18 – 32 hours. This means that it can take 18 – 32 hours for the amount of CBD in your blood stream to be reduced by half. For occasional users, CBD might be detectable in the system for a few days. For regular consumers, especially those taking higher doses, it might take a week or more for CBD to fully clear from their system.
Why take a CBD tincture vs gummies?
Most people who take a CBD oil tincture do so because they do not want to consume any sugar. A pure CBD tincture is a great option for a diabetic, or if you want the added benefits of MCT Oil.
However, the onset of a full spectrum CBD tincture is much faster, typically 15 minutes vs. 30-90 minutes for gummies and edibles, depending on the person. This makes it easier to experiment as well – you can take a small amount, see how you feel in 20 minutes and then decide whether to take more or not.
For those wanting the FASTEST onset and zero calories, smoking or vaping CBD is the best option – but some people simply never put anything in their lungs except oxygen! We respect that choice, which is why we create healthy gummies and tinctures for our customers as well.
