CBD for Pets

A CBD pet tincture is a liquid form of cannabidiol (CBD) specifically formulated for pets, such as dogs and cats. CBD is a compound found in cannabis plants, including hemp, known for its potential therapeutic effects, like reducing anxiety, pain, and inflammation.

CBD pet tinctures are usually made by extracting CBD from hemp plants and then diluting it with a carrier oil of choice. They come in bottles with droppers for easy administration and dosage control. Pet owners can add the desired amount of CBD tincture to their pet’s food or directly into their mouth.

Some companies repackage their human CBD tinctures with a different label and sell it as pet CBD, but we wanted to do better. We do not recommend giving your pet human CBD products for a few different reasons. Most human tinctures use MCT oil as a base; this is technically fine as MCT oil can be healthy for pets, but there are 3 reasons we do not recommend this:

• MCT could cause diahrrea for your pet – you have to start with a really small amount and build up a tolerance, or it can result in gastrointestinal issues. This is true for humans as well, but even moreso for pets due to their low body weight (just a dropperful of a tincture for a human is typically totally fine)
• Wild Salmon Oil has more health benefits for your pets than MCT Oil
• Pets LOVE the taste of Wild Salmon Oil, making it very easy to administer it or add it to food

Lastly but most importantly, most CBD tinctures for humans are too strong for pets if you administer the typical 1/2 – 1 dropperful. So please take this into consideration before giving your pet some of your own CBD tincture – and consider purchasing a separate CBD oil for pets.

There are several different categories pet CBD products such as traditional treats, chews, and tinctures. We chose to launch tinctures because they are healthy and can easily be added on top of a meal OR used as a treat. Salmon is also universally loved by dogs AND cats, so it is any easy product to use universally for any pets you may have in your home.

The best CBD oil for pets is typically lab tested for potency, comes from a trusted brand and from a retailer with great customer service who can answer any questions you may have.

If you are purchasing pet CBD drops, make sure there are proper dosage instructions depending on the weight of your animal. CBD pet drops should also come with a pipette with mL markings so you can clearly and easily measure out the dosage each time.
