Does CBD Cream Show Up on a Drug Test?
Standard topical CBD cream application is very unlikely to cause a positive drug test. Topical cannabinoids do not meaningfully enter the bloodstream under normal use, which is what drug tests detect, not the presence of cream on your skin.
Drug tests screen for cannabinoid metabolites in the blood, urine, or hair, not for compounds on the skin’s surface. Because topical CBD cream does not meaningfully enter the bloodstream under standard application, it does not produce the metabolites that drug tests screen for. This is fundamentally different from oral CBD or inhaled cannabis, which do enter the bloodstream and produce detectable metabolites.
The small theoretical risk is with creams containing THC applied very heavily over a very large surface area for an extended period. Standard use of TribeTokes pain cream in normal amounts for localized pain is not expected to produce a positive drug test. If you have a high-stakes test upcoming and are concerned, you can review the COA for THC content and speak with the testing facility about their thresholds.
