This one was born from personal necessity. Our co-founder had been combining CBN, Vitamin B6, and L-Tryptophan with THC to treat her own insomnia — and eventually decided to put the whole stack into one gummy so you don’t have to.

Here’s why the formula works: THC relaxes and sedates. CBN amplifies those sedative effects. L-Tryptophan supports your body’s own melatonin production — no synthetic melatonin needed, no groggy morning after. B6 makes the whole conversion pathway work better. It’s not one ingredient doing the heavy lifting. It’s all four working together.

Customers who’ve tried every OTC sleep aid available keep landing here. One put it simply: “No racing thoughts or nightmare-fueled dread. I slept. Hard. And it was amazing.” Another: “I look forward to bedtime instead of dreading laying there tossing and turning all night.”

Start with a quarter to half a gummy 30-60 minutes before bed. Want the same formula without the high? Check out our CBD + CBN Sleep Gummies.

How It Works

After you eat the gummy, the cannabinoids and the amino acid pass through the digestive system and metabolize through the liver before entering the bloodstream. Edibles take 30 to 90 minutes to kick in for this reason. Plan to take a sleep gummy 60 to 90 minutes before you want to fall asleep. Too close to bedtime and the ramp catches you mid-effort.

Effects peak in the first 2 hours and taper across the next 4 to 6 hours. For most users, the felt experience is a wave of relaxation in the first hour, followed by a slide into sleep, followed by a longer stretch of deeper rest than they typically get. The formula is designed to fade in the early morning hours so you wake up rested, not foggy.

Four ingredients work on different sleep pathways. THC produces relaxation and quiets racing thoughts. CBN is the cannabinoid associated with sedation in the cannabinoid literature. L-Tryptophan is a natural precursor your body uses to produce its own melatonin. B6 is a cofactor in that pathway. The point of stacking is that no single ingredient does all the work.

Each box contains 20 gummies. On a half-gummy starter dose, that is 40 servings per box. On a full-gummy dose, that is 20 servings. Subscribe-and-save delivers a fresh box on the cadence you choose, at 10% off the per-box price.

How can THC help with Sleep?

  1. Sedative effects: THC can have sedative properties, making users feel relaxed and drowsy, which may help in falling asleep faster.
  2. Reduced sleep latency: Some studies suggest that THC can reduce the time it takes to fall asleep.
  3. Increased deep sleep: THC may increase the amount of time spent in deep sleep, also known as slow-wave sleep, which is crucial for physical restoration and memory consolidation.
  4. Pain reduction: For individuals whose sleep is disrupted by chronic pain, THC’s analgesic properties may help alleviate discomfort, indirectly improving sleep quality.
  5. Anxiety reduction: THC can have anxiolytic effects for some users, potentially helping to quiet an overactive mind that might otherwise interfere with sleep. Note: Some people may find THC helpful for sleep, while others might experience increased anxiety or racing thoughts. If this is the case for you, our CBD sleep gummies without THC may be a better option for you!
  6. Extended sleep duration: Some users report longer sleep duration when using THC, though this can vary among individuals.
  7. Regulation of sleep-wake cycle: THC interacts with the endocannabinoid system, which plays a role in regulating circadian rhythms and sleep patterns.

How does CBN help with Sleep?

  • Sedative Properties: Even on its own, CBN is believed to have mild sedative properties that can promote relaxation and sleepiness.
  • Interacts with the Endocannabinoid System: Similar to CBD, CBN interacts with the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is involved in regulating various physiological processes, including sleep. CBN binds to the CB1 receptors in the brain, which are thought to influence sleep patterns and promote a restful night’s sleep.
  • Reduces Inflammation and Pain: CBN has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that can help reduce pain and discomfort, which are common barriers to good sleep. By alleviating pain, CBN can help improve sleep quality and duration.
  • Promotes Muscle Relaxation: CBN is known to promote muscle relaxation, which can be particularly beneficial for individuals who experience muscle tension or spasms that interfere with sleep. Relaxed muscles can contribute to a more comfortable and restful sleep.
  • Potential Anxiolytic Effects: Although more research is needed, some evidence suggests that CBN may have anxiolytic (anxiety-reducing) effects. By reducing anxiety, CBN can help calm the mind and body, making it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.
  • Enhances Sleep Duration and Quality: Preliminary research and anecdotal evidence indicate that CBN may help increase the duration of sleep and improve its quality. Users often report feeling more refreshed and well-rested after using CBN.

How does L-Tryptophan help with Sleep? L-Tryptophan is an essential amino acid that plays a crucial role in the production of serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep, and other bodily functions. Here’s how L-Tryptophan may help with sleep:

  • Precursor to Serotonin: L-Tryptophan is converted into 5-hydroxytryptophan (5-HTP) in the body, which is then converted into serotonin. Serotonin is involved in the regulation of sleep, mood, and appetite. Higher levels of serotonin can promote feelings of well-being and relaxation, which are conducive to sleep.
  • Serotonin to Melatonin Conversion: Serotonin is further converted into melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Melatonin production increases in the evening, signaling to the body that it is time to sleep. By boosting serotonin levels, L-Tryptophan can indirectly increase melatonin production, helping to regulate and improve sleep patterns.
  • Improves Sleep Onset: Research suggests that L-Tryptophan can help reduce the time it takes to fall asleep. By promoting relaxation and reducing anxiety, L-Tryptophan can make it easier to transition from wakefulness to sleep.
  • Enhances Sleep Quality: L-Tryptophan has been shown to improve sleep quality by increasing the amount of deep sleep and reducing nighttime awakenings. Deep sleep is essential for physical and mental restoration, and enhancing this stage of sleep can lead to feeling more refreshed and rested upon waking.
  • Reduces Symptoms of Depression and Anxiety: L-Tryptophan’s role in serotonin production can also help alleviate symptoms of depression and anxiety, which are common contributors to sleep disturbances. By improving mood and reducing anxiety, L-Tryptophan can create a more favorable mental state for sleep.
  • Regulates Circadian Rhythms: Melatonin, derived from serotonin, helps regulate the body’s circadian rhythms, the natural 24-hour cycle that dictates sleep and wakefulness. Proper regulation of these rhythms is essential for maintaining consistent sleep patterns and overall sleep health.

How does Vitamin B6 help with Sleep? Vitamin B6, also known as pyridoxine, is a water-soluble vitamin that plays a crucial role in various bodily functions, including neurotransmitter synthesis and regulation. Here’s how Vitamin B6 may help with sleep:

  • Supports Serotonin Production: Vitamin B6 is essential for the conversion of the amino acid tryptophan into serotonin, a neurotransmitter that regulates mood, sleep, and appetite. Higher levels of serotonin can promote feelings of well-being and relaxation, which are conducive to sleep.
  • Aids in Melatonin Synthesis: Serotonin is further converted into melatonin, a hormone that regulates the sleep-wake cycle. Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in the enzymatic reactions that produce melatonin from serotonin. Adequate levels of Vitamin B6 can thus help ensure sufficient melatonin production, which is crucial for regulating sleep patterns and promoting restful sleep.
  • Reduces Symptoms of Anxiety: Vitamin B6 plays a role in the production of neurotransmitters such as dopamine and gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), which help regulate mood and anxiety. By supporting these neurotransmitters, Vitamin B6 can help reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety, common contributors to sleep disturbances.
  • Enhances Dream Recall: Some studies and anecdotal evidence suggest that Vitamin B6 can enhance the vividness and recall of dreams. While this might not directly improve sleep quality, it indicates that Vitamin B6 influences brain activity during sleep, potentially leading to more restorative sleep phases.
  • Improves Sleep Quality: By supporting the synthesis of neurotransmitters that regulate mood and sleep, Vitamin B6 may help improve overall sleep quality. This includes reducing the time it takes to fall asleep, decreasing nighttime awakenings, and enhancing the depth of sleep.
  • Regulates Homocysteine Levels: Vitamin B6 helps regulate homocysteine levels, an amino acid in the blood. High levels of homocysteine are associated with various health issues, including cardiovascular problems, which can indirectly affect sleep. By maintaining healthy homocysteine levels, Vitamin B6 supports overall health and well-being, which can contribute to better sleep.

Why Does Indica Make You Sleepy?

Indica plants originated on the Indian subcontinent and were first brought to the United States in the 1970s. They can be visually identified because they grow short and wide relative to sativa (more “stubby” looking). They result in a very relaxing and strong body high that helps support a healthy response to stress, helps with temporary pain caused by exercise, and supports quality sleep.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why this gummy instead of melatonin or a prescription sleep aid?

If you have tried melatonin and woken up groggy, or if you have tried a single-ingredient sleep gummy and felt nothing, this formula is built for the in-between. Four ingredients work on different pathways: 10mg Delta 9 THC for relaxation, 20mg CBN (the cannabinoid associated with sedation in the literature), 250mg L-Tryptophan (a natural precursor your body uses to produce its own melatonin), and 1mg Vitamin B6 (a cofactor in that same melatonin pathway). The design philosophy is multi-pathway support rather than a single high-dose ingredient. Our co-founder built this gummy after years of stacking these same ingredients separately on her own bedside table.

How much should I take?

Start with half a gummy on your first night. Reviewer Kevin M. wrote, “I started the first night with a whole gummie. That next morning, I felt a little groggy. Went to a half gummie a couple of nights later. Perfect! Refreshed and well rested.” The combined 10mg THC plus 20mg CBN plus 250mg L-Tryptophan load is calibrated for sleep, not for an evening buzz, and a full gummy is more than most users need to fall asleep. Wait at least 90 minutes after taking before deciding whether you need more. The most common dosing mistake on a sleep gummy is taking a second one at the 60 minute mark, then waking up groggy from a doubled dose.

When should I take it before bed?

Timing matters more on a sleep formula than on most gummies. Plan to take it 60 to 90 minutes before you want to fall asleep. Edibles take 30 to 90 minutes to kick in because the gummy has to pass through the digestive system and metabolize through the liver. On an empty stomach, expect onset closer to 30 minutes. After a heavy meal, expect closer to 90. Take it too close to bedtime and you may be awake watching the ceiling while it ramps. Take it too early and the peak effect will hit before you are ready for bed. The 60 to 90 minute window is the sweet spot for most users.

Will I fail a drug test if I use these?

Yes. Each gummy contains 10mg of Delta 9 THC. Standard drug tests look for THC metabolites, and any product containing Delta 9 THC will show up on those tests. CBN can also show up on some test panels because it is a chemical relative of THC. If you have a drug screening for work, sports, custody, probation, or any reason at all, do not use this product. This applies regardless of dose size or how recently you took one. The federal legality of hemp-derived THC under the 2018 Farm Bill does not change drug-test outcomes. For a THC-free sleep alternative, see the CBD + CBN Sleep Gummies (THC-free, same B6 and L-Tryptophan support, peach flavor).

What does CBN actually do?

Cannabinol (CBN) is the cannabinoid most associated with sedation in cannabis pharmacology, often called the sleepy cannabinoid. It binds to the same CB1 and CB2 receptors as THC but produces a more sedating, less euphoric profile. In the Sleep Formula, the 20mg of CBN is the largest single cannabinoid dose, paired with 10mg of THC for what is called the entourage effect (the combined effect of cannabinoids is different from any single cannabinoid alone). In this case, the combination leans hard toward sedation. The intent is to make the THC relaxation slide into sleep rather than into evening engagement. Most users describe the felt experience as a wave of physical heaviness and mental quietness about 60 to 90 minutes after taking the gummy.

Hemp-derived Delta 9 THC is federally legal under the 2018 Farm Bill if the final product contains less than 0.3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight, which is the standard TribeTokes products meet. The CBN, B6, and L-Tryptophan in this formula are also federally compliant. Some states have layered their own rules on top of the federal framework. State laws change often enough that we do not maintain a state-by-state list (it goes stale within months). For the current legal status in your state, check NORML’s state-by-state guide at norml.org/laws/. By purchasing, you confirm you are 21+ and have verified that the product is legal at your delivery address.

What is actually in the gummy?

Just six core ingredients plus the actives. The base is organic tapioca syrup, organic cane sugar, water, and pectin (the vegan alternative to gelatin). Color comes from natural fruit and vegetable sources like elderberry, not artificial dyes. Flavor comes from real mixed berry flavoring, not synthetic agents. The actives are Delta 9 distillate (10mg), CBN isolate (20mg), L-Tryptophan (250mg), and Vitamin B6 (1mg). There is no melatonin in the formula. The intent is to support your body’s natural melatonin production via B6 and L-Tryptophan, rather than supplementing it directly. Every batch is third-party lab tested for cannabinoid potency, heavy metals, residual solvents, pesticides, and microbials. The most recent batch’s certificate of analysis is posted at tribetokes.com/certificates-of-analysis/.

Will I wake up groggy?

Most users report no morning grogginess at the recommended dose of half to one gummy, which is one of the design goals of the formula. The absence of synthetic melatonin matters here: melatonin supplements often produce a hangover feeling, while the B6 plus L-Tryptophan pathway supports your body’s own melatonin production at the level your body wants. The most common cause of next-morning grogginess on this gummy is taking too much, particularly the 1-full-gummy starting dose that reviewer Kevin M. described before scaling down to half. If you wake up foggy, try half a gummy the next night. If you wake up rested, you have found your dose.

Can I take this every night?

Tolerance can build with any nightly THC use. Many users on this formula do take it every night and continue to feel results, but the general pharmacology guidance is to consider periodic tolerance breaks (a few nights off every few weeks) to keep the experience consistent. If nightly use is important and tolerance is a concern, the CBD + CBN Sleep Gummies (THC-free) are a common rotation partner. Some users rotate week-on / week-off between the THC version and the CBD version to maintain the sleep benefit without continuous THC exposure. Per general guidance: this formula is not designed as a permanent substitute for addressing the underlying causes of sleep difficulty.

How does this compare to other TribeTokes gummies?

Six gummy formulas, one lineup. Sleep Formula (10mg D9 + 20mg CBN + L-Tryptophan + B6, mixed berry) is targeted at falling asleep and staying asleep. Smooth Operator (1:1:1 THC/CBD/CBG, tangerine) is the balanced daytime option. Buzzed Extra-Strength (10mg D9 + 20mg D8, pineapple) is the highest-strength formula. Live Resin THC (mango) uses full-spectrum live resin extract. Live Rosin (watermelon) uses solventless rosin extraction. Libido Lift (peach) adds CBC plus an adaptogen blend. CBD Wellness Gummies (mixed berry) is the THC-free wellness option, and CBD + CBN Sleep Gummies (peach) is the THC-free sleep version. Pick by intent: sleep lands here, on Sleep Formula.
