Does CBG Show Up on a Drug Test?
CBG itself is not screened for in standard drug tests. The risk comes from trace THC in full-spectrum CBG products. Check the COA for THC content before use if drug testing is a concern.
Standard workplace and legal drug tests screen for THC metabolites, not CBG or CBG metabolites. CBG is not a scheduled substance and is not included in standard immunoassay panels. A product containing only CBG with no THC will not trigger a positive drug test result. The risk enters with full-spectrum CBG products, which contain the natural range of hemp cannabinoids including trace amounts of THC. Regular use of a full-spectrum product with even small amounts of THC can accumulate in fatty tissue over time and produce a positive result on a sensitive test.
Reading the COA before choosing a CBG product is the practical first step. A broad-spectrum or CBG isolate product will show undetectable or non-quantifiable THC on the COA and carries essentially no drug test risk. A full-spectrum product showing any detectable THC carries some risk with frequent use. If drug testing is a regular concern, choose products whose COA shows THC below the limit of quantification.
