Drops you hold under your tongue. Part of each dose absorbs right there instead of going through your stomach first, so tinctures kick in faster than gummies and more of what you take gets put to work. Pick your cannabinoid by what you want it for, and every bottle is 1,800mg in organic MCT oil, lab tested batch by batch. Adults 21+ only. The CBG Tincture is also part of our daytime focus lineup.

Which Tincture Is Right for You?

Not sure where to start? Start with CBD. It’s the everyday one: no high, and it fits a morning or evening routine.

  • CBD Tincture: 1,200mg CBD + 600mg CBG. No high. For a steady everyday baseline, morning or evening.
  • CBN Tincture: 1,200mg CBN + 600mg CBD. No high, but it can make you drowsy. Take it 30 to 60 minutes before bed.
  • CBG Tincture: 1,200mg CBG + 300mg CBD + 300mg CBGa. No high, and it’s the clearest-headed of the four, so it’s the daytime pick.
  • Delta 8 THC Tincture: 1,200mg Delta 8 THC + 600mg CBD. Yes, a mild high, softer than Delta 9 THC. Evenings only, and start low.
  • Pet CBD Tincture: 300mg CBD in wild Alaskan salmon oil. Zero THC. For dogs and cats only, never give them a human tincture.

What a Tincture Is, and Why People Choose One

A tincture is cannabinoids dissolved in oil. You measure it with a dropper and hold it under your tongue. People pick it for two reasons: it works faster than a gummy, and you can dose it to the milligram.

Speed comes down to where it absorbs. When you swallow a gummy, it goes through your stomach and liver first, and your liver breaks down part of the dose before it reaches you. Hold a tincture under your tongue for 60 seconds and some of it absorbs through the thin tissue there, skipping that first pass. That’s why a tincture starts working in 15 to 45 minutes instead of 1 to 2 hours, and why more of what you take gets put to work. Our guide to how tinctures work goes deeper on the absorption science.

The oil matters too. Cannabinoids dissolve in fat, and our organic MCT oil (a light oil made from coconut) carries them well and has almost no taste, so the lemon mint comes through.

Same product, different names on the shelf: CBD oil, THC drops, weed tincture. If it comes in a dropper bottle and goes under your tongue, it belongs here.

Tinctures vs gummies vs vapes

  • Tincture: starts in 15 to 45 minutes, lasts 4 to 6 hours, dosed to the milligram. Made for daily routines.
  • Gummy: starts in 45 to 90 minutes, lasts 4 to 8 hours, dosed by the piece. Good for a long evening.
  • Vape: starts in 2 to 5 minutes, lasts 1 to 3 hours, dosed by the puff. For right now.

Plenty of people use more than one, like a CBG tincture in the morning and a gummy at night. Browse gummies, vapes or CBD pain cream if a different format fits you better.

How to Use a Cannabis Tincture

The dropper is the whole point. It measures cannabinoid content down to the milligram, which makes precision dosing easier than with edibles, vapes, or flower. Shake first. Measure your dose. Hold under your tongue 60 seconds. Swallow. Wondering when to judge it? Here’s how long tinctures take to kick in.

Sublingual method (fastest)

Added to food or drink (slower)

Mix your dose into a smoothie, coffee, tea, or salad dressing. This routes the cannabinoids through your digestive system, so onset takes 1 to 2 hours, similar to an edible. Effects often last a bit longer. The lemon mint flavor blends well with most beverages.

Tincture dosage as a starting point

The rule of edibles applies here too: if you’re not sure, half it. You can always take more in an hour.

What’s in Every TribeTokes Tincture

Every bottle is 30mL and 1,800mg: 1,200mg of the lead cannabinoid plus 600mg of a partner cannabinoid, in organic MCT oil with a lemon mint flavor.

Why pair them? Each formula leads with one cannabinoid and adds a second that rounds it out. CBD with CBG feels different from CBD alone, and CBN lands softer with CBD beside it. The idea is called the entourage effect (Russo, 2011). The research is still early, so we go by how the blends feel to the people taking them.

No alcohol, no propylene glycol, no artificial flavors. Every batch gets a third-party Certificate of Analysis (a lab report) covering potency, pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents and microbials, so the milligrams on the label are the milligrams in the bottle.

Tincture or oil? Same bottle

A tincture used to mean an alcohol extract, and an oil meant, well, oil. Today almost every cannabis tincture is oil-based, so the two words describe the same thing. What’s worth checking on any brand: the carrier oil, the milligrams per serving, and whether a batch lab report is posted. If a bottle has been in your cabinet a while, here’s how long tinctures last.

Full spectrum, broad spectrum, isolate

Full spectrum keeps the plant’s other compounds, including a trace of THC. Broad spectrum removes the THC. Isolate is one cannabinoid on its own. Ours lead with one cannabinoid and add a partner, and each product page lists its exact formula and THC content.

Which Tinctures Get You High?

Only the Delta 8 THC tincture. The CBD, CBN and CBG tinctures don’t get you high.

CBD is the steady one: less edge, same clear head. CBN won’t get you high either, but it can make you drowsy, so save it for evenings. CBG is the clearest-headed of the three, which is why people reach for it during the day.

The Delta 8 THC tincture is a real high, milder than Delta 9 THC. Start with a quarter dropper, give it a full hour, and don’t drive or take it before anything that needs a clear head. It lasts 4 to 6 hours.

What is a cannabis tincture and how do you use it?

A cannabis tincture is a liquid cannabinoid extract suspended in a carrier oil. You measure a dose with the dropper, hold it under your tongue 60 seconds, then swallow. Sublingual absorption is faster than an edible because it skips the digestive system entirely. Onset lands at 15 to 45 minutes. TribeTokes tinctures use an organic MCT oil carrier. Available in CBD, CBN, CBG, Delta 8, and pet formulas. Every bottle is 1,800mg cannabinoid content, lemon mint flavor, third-party lab tested.

What is the difference between CBD, CBN, CBG, and Delta 8 tinctures?

Four cannabinoids, four experiences. CBD is the steady daily-driver. CBN is built for evening rest. CBG is daytime-leaning and a touch more focused. Delta 8 is the only one that gets you high, and gently. Each TribeTokes tincture is boosted with a complementary cannabinoid for the entourage effect: CBD + CBG, CBN + CBD, CBG + CBD + CBGa, Delta 8 + CBD. Reach for CBD or CBG during the day, CBN before bed, Delta 8 for evening wind-down with mild euphoria. The pet tincture is CBD-only in salmon oil.

How long does it take for a cannabis tincture to work?

Sublingual tinctures (held under the tongue) take effect in 15 to 45 minutes. Tinctures added to food or drink take 1 to 2 hours. The under-tongue route absorbs cannabinoids directly through the thin tissue at the floor of your mouth. The digestive system gets bypassed entirely. Hold for 60 seconds so more of it absorbs. Mixed into a drink or meal, the tincture routes through the gut and behaves like an edible. Effects from either route typically run 4 to 6 hours.

Which cannabis tinctures get you high, and which ones don’t?

Only the Delta 8 THC tincture. CBD, CBN, and CBG tinctures are non-psychoactive. You won’t feel high from any of them. Delta 8 is the one people mean when they search for a THC tincture, a weed tincture, a marijuana tincture, or THC drops. It runs roughly 50 to 70 percent as potent as Delta 9 THC, which translates to a milder, clearer-headed high. CBD provides a steady, non-intoxicating effect. CBN brings drowsiness without intoxication. CBG lands non-intoxicating and slightly more focused than CBD. Every batch COA lists the exact Delta 9 THC content.

Which tincture is best for evenings?

The TribeTokes CBN Tincture is the catalog’s evening option. CBN is the cannabinoid most associated with the rest end of the cannabis experience. The Sleep Tincture pairs 1,200mg CBN with 600mg CBD for a smoother evening landing than CBN alone. Most customers take it 30 to 60 minutes before bed sublingually. For people who want some THC layered in, the Delta 8 THC tincture pairs well with the CBN tincture (different bottles, taken together). Adults 21+ only. Talk to a healthcare provider before combining cannabis with prescription sleep medications.

How much of a tincture should I start with?

Half a dropper (about 30mg of a 1,800mg bottle) is a common starting dose for CBD. Wait 60 minutes before adding more. Most people settle into a full dropper (60mg) once or twice a day after a week or two. For Delta 8 specifically, start with a quarter dropper because Delta 8 is psychoactive and the effect window is short. The TribeTokes dropper is graduated, so you can dial in your dose to the milligram. CBG tincture for daytime focus or CBN tincture for evening rest follow the same pattern.

Can I give a cannabis tincture to my pet?

Only the TribeTokes Pet CBD Tincture is formulated for pets. It contains zero THC and uses wild salmon oil as the carrier. Never give human tinctures or anything containing Delta 8 or Delta 9 THC to pets. THC is toxic to dogs and cats even in small amounts. The Pet CBD Tincture is CBD only, in salmon oil, with dropper-based dosing scaled to body weight. Browse the CBD for pets page for the weight-based dosing chart and the senior-dog use case. Talk to a veterinarian before adding CBD to a pet’s routine, particularly for animals on prescription medications.
