What Is Inside a Sour Diesel Eighth
Whole THCa flower and nothing else. The fuel you smell is the plant’s own terpene profile, which is the whole reason Sour Diesel flower has held its reputation this long. Want to line it up against Durban Poison and Cheetah Piss? See all our sativa THCa flower.
🌿
THCa, 28.4% on the current batch
Third-party tested. Our indoor line targets 22 to 28%, and this batch landed high.
🌶
Caryophyllene
The peppery molecule behind the fuel note. Sour Diesel is known for putting it on top.
🍃
Myrcene
Usually second. It rounds off the sharp edges so the gas reads clean, not harsh.
🍋
Limonene
The lemon on the exhale. It keeps all that fuel bright instead of heavy.
🧪
Delta 9 THC, 0.3% or less
Hemp-derived, well inside the federal dry-weight ceiling, and confirmed by an outside lab.
🚫
Nothing Added
Nothing sprayed, nothing infused, nothing painted on after cure. Every flavor here came off the plant.
Science Corner: Sour Diesel THCa Flower
Why do we print a range instead of one big number? Because the figure on a cannabis label depends on who ran the test almost as much as on what is in the jar. Jikomes and Zoorob (2018) went through Washington State’s legal-market lab records and found that THC results varied systematically by testing facility, with some labs reporting higher numbers than others again and again (PMID 29540728). So a Sour Diesel eighth listed at 30% somewhere else isn’t automatically stronger than ours. One study from one state isn’t the final word on lab testing. It is a good reason to read potency as a range, and to care more about how a strain actually smokes.
How It Works and How Much To Start With
Smoked flower is the fastest way cannabis arrives. You feel the first of it within minutes, and the main stretch runs roughly two to three hours. That speed works in your favor, because you know where you stand before you decide on more.
Sour Diesel is quick even by flower standards. People describe it as alert, talkative and clear-headed, and it lands in your head long before your body notices anything. The classic mistake is a second hit at minute one, before the first has finished arriving. Wait ten minutes.
Harvest, tolerance, food and how deep you pull all move the result. Two harvests of the same strain never smoke identically, so a range is more honest than a single number.
| Intensity | Amount | Who it suits |
| Light | A few small pulls | New to flower, or new to fast sativas |
| Moderate | A partial bowl | Regular smokers, a morning with room to move |
| Strong | A full bowl | Experienced, high tolerance, no tight deadlines |
| This product | Eighth (3.5g), 28.4% THCa on the current batch report | Third-party lab tested, results on our lab page |
Start low and wait. General guidance only, not medical advice.
Start with two small pulls and give it ten minutes. A subscription takes a discount off the first eighth.
Sour Diesel THCa Flower FAQ
Sour Diesel, also sold as Sour D, is a sativa-dominant daytime strain with a sharp fuel nose and a lemon finish, sold here as indoor Sour Diesel flower by the eighth.
It’s indoor hemp flower from Sour Diesel, sold as whole, hand-trimmed buds in a 3.5 gram eighth. Sour Diesel is the strain most people mean when they talk about gas. The most cited lineage is Chemdawg crossed with Super Skunk, though another account says it was simply selected out of Chemdawg, and nobody has ever settled it. THCa is the acid form of THC that the living plant makes. Every batch we sell tests at 0.3% or under for Delta 9 THC by dry weight. What ships is intact buds, not ground material or shake with a famous name on the bag. If you know Sour Diesel from our carts or disposables, this is the strain in its original form.
Fuel first, and you’ll smell it the second the lid comes off. It’s a sharp, clean diesel, closer to a struck match than anything greasy, with bright lemon cutting through it and a little skunk and earth underneath. The lemon is what keeps it from reading flat. Smoke it slowly and you get all three layers; rush it and the fuel takes over everything. If your usual picks are dessert strains, Sour Diesel will taste bold, and that’s the point. If you’ve been hunting for real gas, this is the undiluted version: no candy layered on top and no vanilla finish, just the smell that made the strain famous. It’s also loud, so anyone in the room will know what you opened.
Sativa-dominant. Some menus file it as a hybrid, because a strain this old has been grown by a lot of people in a lot of ways, but in practice the sativa side does the talking. People report it as fast, clear and talkative, with almost no body weight, which is why we shelve it as a daytime flower. That makes it a morning or early-afternoon jar: the one for getting started, a long lunch, or anything where being chatty helps. It’s the wrong pick for winding down, and we’d rather say that up front than take the sale. If strong sativas usually leave you edgy, start very small, or look at Durban Poison, which gives a cleaner lift without the pungency.
The current batch tested at 28.4% THCa, at the top end of the 22 to 28% our indoor line usually runs, and the full report is on our lab page. That’s strong, but on this strain speed matters more than the number. Sour Diesel feels stronger than its percentage because it arrives fast, and anything that arrives fast reads as more powerful. That’s why the usual advice to start low counts double here. Take one or two small pulls, give it ten minutes, then decide. Most uncomfortable Sour Diesel sessions come from going back in before the first hit has finished landing, not from the figure on the jar. If you’re new to flower, a high-testing sativa is the place to be patient.
An eighth is priced in the buy box above, and bundles bring the per-jar cost down: two eighths cost less than two singles, and three cost less again, up to 10.5 grams in one order. If you’d rather mix than stock up, You Pick 2 and You Pick 3 let you pair Sour Diesel with any other strain on the flower line at the same bundle rate. A subscription takes a discount on your first and second orders, which makes sense once you know you’ll reorder and less sense while you’re still deciding. Every route pulls from the same tested supply. The only choice is how much and how varied, because there are no quality tiers on our flower. Every jar is indoor, hand-trimmed whole bud.
Yes. Sour D is the short form, and in a lot of shops you’ll hear it more often than the full name. Some people write it Sour Deez. Same strain, same fuel-and-lemon profile. Where it gets confusing is the long list of names that borrow the word: Super Sour Diesel, NYC Diesel, East Coast Sour Diesel and plenty of others are separate crosses or selections, not alternate spellings of this one. NYC Diesel, for example, is usually described as Sour Diesel crossed with other strains, which makes it a child, not a twin. When you compare our jar with a menu somewhere else, match the lineage rather than the name, because the name is the least reliable part of any cannabis listing.
In the jar it came in, lid on, somewhere cool and dark. Every time you open it a little of the aroma leaves, so open it when you’re actually going to smoke and close it right after. Heat and light pull terpenes out faster than time does, which rules out the car, the windowsill and the top of the fridge. Skip the refrigerator too, since the humidity swings do more harm than room temperature ever will. Stored well, an eighth holds its character for months. On Sour Diesel, the lemon is your gauge. It’s the most delicate part of the nose, so when the jar smells like fuel and nothing else, it has been sitting somewhere too warm or opened too often.
Yes. Smoking THCa flower puts THC metabolites in your system, and those metabolites are exactly what a standard urine, blood or hair test looks for. It doesn’t matter that the flower is hemp-derived or that you bought it online, because a drug test can’t tell the difference. If a job, a license, a sport or a court requirement depends on a clean result, the only reliable plan is to not use THC products at all. Ignore anyone selling a detox drink or a timing trick. How long it stays detectable depends on how often you use, how much, and your own body, so there’s no honest number of safe days. If you smoke regularly, plan in weeks, not days. NORML tracks testing policy by state.
Federally, yes. Federal hemp law draws the line at 0.3% Delta 9 THC by dry weight, and everything under it is classed as hemp. We test every batch against that line and post the results on our lab page. State law is what actually decides your order. Rules differ from state to state, a few restrict THCa flower specifically, and they change often enough that any list printed here would be out of date within months. Check your own state before you order, because state and local rules decide what can legally arrive at your door, whatever the federal position is. We ship to most states. Look yours up first, then shop with the answer already in hand.
It’s the loudest jar on the sativa shelf, the one for people who want fuel. Durban Poison is the cleanest lift of the group, a sweet-pine landrace sativa that suits anyone who finds strong sativas edgy. Cheetah Piss brings a different kind of funk, sharp and citrusy with diesel underneath, if you like gas with more fruit in it. Tropicana Cherry is the fruit-forward daytime pick, tropical and sweet where Sour Diesel is pure gas. Every jar on the line is built the same way: indoor, hand-trimmed whole bud, tested per batch, so you’re really choosing flavor and pace. Rolled versions live on the preroll shelf, and the lineage and terpene story is on the Sour Diesel strain profile.
Sold by the eighth, cheaper by the bundle, and third-party lab tested like everything we grow.
