Science Corner: Why We Publish the Lab Report

Why TribeTokes for THCa

What is THCa?

THCa is the acidic cannabinoid that cannabis produces while it is growing. Every cannabis plant makes it, and it is the single most abundant cannabinoid in raw flower. Ours is hemp-derived and produced under the 2018 Farm Bill, which measures Delta-9 THC by dry weight. In practical terms, THCa flower is whole flower: it looks, smells and handles like what you would see on a dispensary shelf, because it is the same plant material.

How strong is your THCa flower?

Our eighths test between 22 and 28% THCa depending on the strain and the batch. We publish the actual batch number on the Certificate of Analysis rather than a marketing figure, which matters more than usual here, because independent testing has repeatedly found retail cannabis labels overstating potency. If a number looks too good, ask to see the report.

THCa flower vs THCa vapes: which should I get?

Flower if you want to judge it yourself and roll your own, vapes if you want it simple. Flower is the format people already know how to assess by sight and smell, and it gives you the most control. Carts and disposables give you twelve strains, no grinder, no rolling, and a much shorter path from opening the box to using it. Pre-rolls sit in between: whole flower, someone else did the work.

Which THCa product should I start with?

A disposable, almost always. There is no battery to charge, nothing to screw together, and you get the same twelve strains as the carts. If you already own a 510 battery, go straight to the carts instead and save the hardware cost. If you are here for flower specifically, start with a single eighth in a strain that sounds right rather than a multi-pack, then buy the bundle once you know what you like.

How many strains do you carry?

Twelve strains across the live resin carts and disposables, and nine strains in the flower. Strain matters more in this category than anywhere else on our site, so it is worth noting which one you liked. Availability moves with each harvest, so the strain list on a product page is always more current than anything written here.

What is live resin, and why does it cost more?

Live resin is made from cannabis that was frozen fresh rather than dried first, which keeps far more of the aromatic compounds that give a strain its character. That is why our live resin carts taste noticeably more like the plant they came from. It costs more because the process is more involved and the input material is handled differently from the start. Whether it is worth it depends on how much you care about flavor.

Will THCa show up on a drug test?

Yes. If you are subject to drug testing, do not use these. Standard tests do not screen for the cannabinoid itself, they screen for THC metabolites, and your body produces those from THCa products. This applies to flower, pre-rolls, carts and disposables alike. The honest advice is abstinence from all cannabinoid products, ours included, and any brand that tells you otherwise is not being straight with you.

Is your THCa flower lab tested?

Yes, every batch. We third-party lab test for potency and contaminants and publish the Certificate of Analysis on our site rather than sending it on request. For flower in particular this is the part worth checking, because potency claims cost nothing to print and independent testing has found retail labels routinely overstating them.

How should I store THCa flower?

Cool, dark and airtight. Light and heat are what degrade flower fastest, so a sealed jar in a cupboard beats a bag on the counter. Keep it away from a windowsill, do not refrigerate it, and it will hold its character for months. If it dries out, it gets harsher rather than stronger.
