The sharpest cart on the menu, and the one that still smells like the nineties. A full gram of Sour Diesel live resin THCa on a 510 thread, built for the front half of a day rather than the end of one.

Sour Diesel came out of a Chemdawg and Super Skunk cross in the early nineties and never left the menu, which almost nothing from that era managed. What keeps it there is the smell: sharp pungent fuel with sour citrus cutting through it, and no sweetness layered over the top. Most strains sold as gassy now have a candy note bred into them somewhere. This one doesn’t, and that’s the whole appeal. Freezing the flower at harvest is what keeps it, because the fuel character sits at the volatile end of the profile and a drying rack takes it first.

Two ingredients: THCa live resin oil and cannabis terpenes off the same plant.

  • Live resin THCa: extracted from flash-frozen flower, full spectrum, 22 to 28% THCa across the line.
  • Sour Diesel terpenes: cannabis-derived and native to the strain, led by beta-caryophyllene with myrcene and d-limonene behind it.

No PG, VG, MCT oil, or Vitamin E acetate. Every product contains less than 0.3% Delta-9 THC.

Warnings: For adults 21+ only. Keep away from children and pets. Do not drive or operate machinery. Not for use if you are pregnant or nursing. If you take prescription medication, talk to your doctor first. These statements have not been evaluated by the FDA.

Thread it onto a charged 510 battery and stay at the bottom of the voltage range. Running hot burns off the fuel note before you finish the cart.

  • Finger-tight only. Overtightening is the usual reason a cart won’t fire.
  • Stay at 2.5 to 3.0 volts. The fuel note is volatile and heat takes it first.
  • One draw, then ten minutes. It arrives fast, so give it less rope than you think.
  • Store it upright, capped, somewhere cool and dark.

Every product is third-party tested for potency. All raw materials we use are full panel tested for purity, including pesticides, heavy metals, microbials and residual solvents.

How It Works and How Much To Start With

Inhaled effects land in about two minutes and finish arriving by fifteen, which makes a cart easy to judge by feel. On Sour Diesel that window is shorter than usual. It arrives fast and it arrives sharp, and fast tends to read as strong whatever the panel says.

One draw, ten minutes, then decide. Overshooting a sharp sativa reads as restlessness rather than heaviness, and restlessness is the harder of the two to sit through. Effects taper across two to three hours.

Sour Diesel THCa Cart FAQ

What is a Sour Diesel THCa cart?

A full gram of Sour Diesel live resin THCa on a 510 thread, one strain and nothing cut into it. Sour Diesel came out of a Chemdawg and Super Skunk cross in the early nineties and it’s stayed on menus ever since, which almost nothing from that era managed. What keeps it there is the smell. Sharp pungent fuel with citrus cutting through, and none of the sweetness layered over the top that most gassy strains have now. Live resin extraction matters more here than on a fruit-forward strain, because the volatile end of this profile is exactly where the fuel note lives and a drying rack takes it first. Any 510 battery runs it. You’ll also see it written Sour D, sour desiel or sour diesal, and all of those land here.

What does a Sour Diesel cart taste like?

Sharp pungent fuel with sour citrus cutting through it, and nothing sweet sitting on top. That last part is the whole difference. Most strains sold as gassy today have a candy or dessert layer bred into them, and Sour Diesel doesn’t, which is why people who’ve found sweet carts cloying after a week keep coming back to this one. On a cart the fuel reads cleaner than it does on flower, because there’s no combustion smoke sitting over it. The citrus arrives on the exhale rather than the draw. If flower is your only reference point here, the cart is a narrower version of the same thing: less hay, more fuel. Give it a few seconds between draws and the citrus separates from the fuel.

Why does Sour Diesel smell like fuel if the terpenes are pepper, musk and citrus?

Because the fuel smell is not coming from the terpenes at all. Sour Diesel leads on beta-caryophyllene, then myrcene, then limonene, and none of those three smells like gas on its own. A 2021 paper in ACS Omega went looking for the source of the skunk and fuel character in cannabis and found it in a family of volatile sulfur compounds carrying a prenyl group, with one compound in particular doing most of the work. Sulfur compounds, not terpenes. So the terpene panel on any Sour Diesel lab report will honestly list pepper, musk and citrus while the jar smells like a filling station, and both things are true at once. It also explains how a strain can be bred for a terpene panel and still lose the smell people actually bought it for.

Will a Sour Diesel cart show up on a drug test?

Yes. There’s no framing of this that changes the answer, so we’d rather say it plainly than bury it. Standard urine panels look for THC metabolites, and a lab has no way to separate a hemp-derived product from any other source, which means federal compliance buys you nothing on a screening. Detection windows depend on how often you use it, your body composition and where the panel sets its cutoff. Someone using it occasionally often clears inside a few days. Someone using it daily can register for weeks, and nothing sold online shortens that. If a test is coming and the result matters to you, skip this and come back after. We lose the sale telling you that and it’s still the right call.

Is Sour Diesel indica or sativa?

Sativa, and one of the sharpest anywhere. It’s sativa-dominant rather than a pure landrace, coming from a Chemdawg and Super Skunk cross, but it behaves like the category description rather than hedging toward the middle the way most modern hybrids don’t mind doing. The one thing worth knowing is that myrcene sits second in the terpene order here rather than third or fourth, and myrcene is the terpene most associated with weight. That’s why Sour Diesel doesn’t feel as thin as a terpinolene-led sativa: there’s something underneath it, softening the edges, without ever pulling it down into the body. The Super Skunk half is where the pungency comes from and the Chemdawg half is where the speed comes from. Neither parent is sweet, which is why the result is not either.

What does a Sour Diesel cart cost?

A single full gram is $60. Two come to $100 and three come to $120, which is $20 and $30 off the sticker on each bundle. Worth flagging: the three pack on this strain is priced below where the rest of the cart line sits, so per gram it’s currently the cheapest THCa cart we make. Subscribe and save takes 20 percent off, and you can cancel it whenever you want. No battery ships in the box, because most people buying 510 carts already own one, and if you don’t our batteries page has four that fit. On a first order the all-in-one pen works out better since the battery is included. Every reorder after that, the cart wins on cost.

How strong are Sour Diesel THCa carts?

Full gram, 22 to 28% THCa on the live resin, and the current third-party panel for whatever batch is shipping is on our certificates page rather than quoted here, because the number moves batch to batch and a page that hardcodes it won’t stay right. Sour Diesel flower usually tests somewhere between 18 and 24%, which is solid without being a record. The reason it reads strong has more to do with speed than with the number itself. It arrives fast and it arrives sharp, and fast reads as strong even when the panel says otherwise. One draw, then wait ten minutes before deciding. If you’re coming from Delta 8, treat this as a considerably bigger step than the label difference suggests, and start with a single short draw rather than a full one.

What battery do I need for a Sour Diesel cart?

Any 510-thread battery, which is the standard thread on almost every cart sold in the US. We sell four, all with adjustable voltage and a one-year warranty, but the cart isn’t locked to ours and an existing pen will run it. Stay at the bottom of the voltage range, 2.5 to 3.0 volts. The reason matters on this strain specifically: the sulfur compounds that carry the fuel character are volatile, and running hot burns off the thing you bought the cart for before you’ve finished it. Thread it finger-tight. Overtightening is the single most common reason a cart won’t fire. If a cart does fire but tastes burnt, the voltage is too high rather than the cart being a dud, and turning it down usually recovers the rest of the gram.

Should I buy the Sour Diesel cart or the disposable?

Same oil either way, so the question is only about hardware. The cart is the cheaper gram and it needs a 510 battery you either own or buy once, after which every refill is only the cart price. The disposable arrives charged with the battery built in and nothing to thread, which is the better answer if you’re travelling or trying it for the first time. If you’ve already got a pen sitting in a drawer, the cart is the obvious pick on cost per gram. If you’re working out whether Sour Diesel is your strain at all, the disposable settles that with less commitment and you can move to carts after. Both carry the same third-party panel and the same 22 to 28% THCa range, so nothing about the oil itself changes between them.

Can I buy Sour Diesel carts online legally?

We ship hemp-derived products that test under 0.3% Delta 9 THC on a dry weight basis, which is the federal threshold, and every product has a third-party panel behind it on our certificates page. State law is the part that varies, and a handful of states restrict these products whatever the federal number says. We keep the current shipping restrictions on the shipping page rather than in product copy, because state rules change faster than a product page gets updated and the shipping page is the one that stays right. If your state’s on that list, checkout tells you before you pay. None of this replaces checking your own state’s current rules, which is worth doing once rather than assuming a product page you didn’t write tracks them for you. Adults 21 and over only.
