Start with one question

Do you already own a battery? Everything else follows from that.

Pick one to filter the products below.

Most “nicotine-free” vapes are flavored e-liquid: propylene glycol, glycerin and flavoring, with nothing active in them. Ours go the other way. Each pen and cartridge holds two ingredients, full spectrum CBD oil and strain-specific terpenes, and most of the line adds CBG. You get a slow, calm exhale and no buzz. Want one that does get you high? Those are nicotine-free too: browse our THCa vapes and Delta 8 vapes.

Real talk: this table compares ingredients, not health outcomes. Breathing in anything heated is still different from breathing clean air.

What Are No-Nicotine Vapes?

A no-nicotine vape, also sold as nicotine-free, is any vape without nicotine in the liquid. In practice the label covers two very different products. The first is zero-nic e-liquid: the same propylene glycol and glycerin base as a nicotine vape, plus flavoring, with the nicotine left out. You keep the cloud and the hand-to-mouth habit, and nothing in it is active.

The second is a cannabinoid vape, where the oil itself is the point. Ours are this kind. Each one holds full spectrum CBD, usually boosted with CBG, carried in nothing but the strain’s own terpenes. No tobacco and no thinning agents, which is also why our vapes look and pour thicker than e-liquid.

How Do CBD Vapes Work?

CBD works with the endocannabinoid system, the body’s network of receptors tied to mood, stress response and sleep. Unlike THC, it doesn’t switch on CB1 receptors, so a CBD vape won’t get you high.

Vaping routes CBD through the lungs rather than the gut. Expect to notice it in minutes and for it to taper off within a few hours, while a gummy needs half an hour or more to kick in and sticks around longer. Customers describe the vape as a quick, quiet reset: calm and clear-headed enough to answer email.

Nicotine-Free Vape Pen: Disposable, Cartridge or Kit?

Same question as the picker up top: do you already own a 510 battery?

No, and you want zero setup. Get a nicotine-free CBD disposable vape pen. It’s draw-activated with no buttons, and our CBD CBG disposable recharges over USB-C.

No, but you’d rather reuse hardware. A starter kit pairs a battery with one or two CBD carts, so each refill is just a cart.

Yes. Any of our CBD cartridges fits a standard 510-thread battery.

How Much CBD Vape Should You Take?

Start with one slow draw of two to three seconds, then wait about five minutes before the next. Inhaled CBD arrives fast, and the pause tells you where you’ve landed. Most people settle on one or two draws per session.

Short sips beat long pulls for flavor too, since overheating the oil tastes harsh. New to CBD? Try it on a quiet afternoon rather than a big day, so you learn how it sits with you. Individual experiences vary, and this isn’t medical dosing advice.

Switching From Nicotine? Start With the Kit

Some customers tell us they reach for a CBD vape in the moments a cigarette used to take up: the coffee break or the pause after dinner. The Nicotine Reset Kit packs that idea into one box. A CBD CBG vape pen covers the in-between moments, CBD Stress Gummies cover the afternoon and CBD + CBN Sleep Gummies cover the evening. There’s zero nicotine in any of it, and the kit is $120, 20% off buying all three separately.

It isn’t an FDA-approved quit aid, and the research on CBD and smoking is early. Read our breakdown of the CBD and smoking studies. For free, confidential help quitting, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW.

Chivers et al., 2019

Blount et al., 2020

New England Journal of Medicine

Researchers tested lung fluid from 51 EVALI patients and found vitamin E acetate in 48 of them. None turned up in the healthy comparison group. The culprit was a cutting agent in illicit THC carts.

What we do with it: our CBD CBG pens and carts skip PG, VG, MCT oil and vitamin E acetate entirely. Every batch gets a third-party COA covering cannabinoids, heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, mycotoxins and microbes, and every one is posted on our lab results page.

These statements have not been evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration. These products are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure or prevent any disease. For adults 21+.

Why TribeTokes?

We’re a woman-owned brand that has made CBD vapes since 2017, and we post every batch COA where anyone can read it. You may have seen us in Forbes, Allure, Rolling Stone and Vice. Our pens hold CBD oil and terpenes, full stop. The 526 reviews on this page average 4.86 stars, and taste and smoothness come up in them more than anything else.

Nicotine-Free Vape FAQs

What is a zero nicotine vape?

A zero nicotine vape is a vape with no nicotine in its liquid or oil, also sold as nicotine-free. The phrase covers two very different products, so check which one you’re buying. Zero-nic e-liquid vapes keep the usual base of propylene glycol and vegetable glycerin, add flavoring, and leave the nicotine out. You get vapor and flavor with nothing active in it. Cannabinoid vapes, like ours, replace that base with plant oil: full spectrum CBD, usually with CBG, plus strain-specific terpenes. That makes them non-intoxicating but not inert, since CBD interacts with your endocannabinoid system. Every TribeTokes CBD vape is nicotine-free and tobacco-free, and every batch report is posted on our lab results page. To compare every strain and format side by side, start with our CBD vapes page.

What’s the best nicotine-free vape?

The best nicotine-free vape is the one that matches what you want from it. If you only want flavor and a cloud, a zero-nic e-liquid vape does that, though a 2019 lab test found nicotine in six of ten liquids labeled nicotine-free, so ask for a batch lab report before you buy. If you want the vape to actually do something, a cannabinoid vape is the better fit. Our CBD CBG disposable vape pen is the simplest place to start: two ingredients, no PG, VG or vitamin E acetate, draw-activated, and it recharges over USB-C. Already own a 510 battery? Our full spectrum CBD cartridge is the top-selling CBD vape we make. Switching from cigarettes or a nicotine vape? The Nicotine Reset Kit pairs the pen with CBD Stress and Sleep Gummies for $120, 20% off buying them separately.

How do I know a vape is really nicotine-free?

Read the ingredient list, then look for a lab report. The label alone isn’t enough. In a 2019 study in the Medical Journal of Australia, a lab tested 10 e-liquids sold as “nicotine-free” and found nicotine in six of them, three at levels close to low-dose nicotine liquid. A trustworthy vape lists a short, specific set of ingredients and links a batch certificate of analysis (COA) from a third-party lab. Ours list two: full spectrum CBD oil and strain-specific terpenes. No propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, MCT oil or vitamin E acetate, and nicotine and tobacco aren’t part of the recipe at any step. Each batch is tested for cannabinoids, heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents, mycotoxins and microbes. The reports are posted on our COA page, labeled by strain and month.

Is it safe to vape without nicotine?

No vape is risk-free, and we’d rather say that up front. Taking nicotine out removes the most addictive ingredient in a typical vape, but heating anything and breathing it in still isn’t fresh air. What’s in the liquid matters most. During the 2019 EVALI outbreak, researchers found vitamin E acetate in lung fluid from 48 of 51 patients they tested (Blount et al., New England Journal of Medicine, 2020). It was a cutting agent added to illicit THC cartridges, not the cannabis oil itself. That’s why our CBD CBG pens and carts contain no vitamin E acetate, PG, VG or MCT oil, and why every batch is third-party tested for heavy metals, pesticides, residual solvents and mycotoxins. If you have a health condition or take prescription medication, talk to your doctor before you vape anything, CBD included.

Will a CBD vape get me high?

No. CBD doesn’t activate the brain’s CB1 receptors the way THC does, so it doesn’t produce a high. When the World Health Organization’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence reviewed CBD in 2018, it found no psychoactive properties. Customers describe the feeling as calm and clear-headed, the kind of vape you can take at lunch and still go back to work. Our CBD vapes are full spectrum, so they carry trace THC within the federal 0.3% Delta 9 limit, and the products stay non-intoxicating. Want a vape that does come with a buzz? Our THCa vapes and Delta 8 vapes are nicotine-free too, just intoxicating, and they’re 21+ only. Whichever you pick, start with one slow draw and wait a few minutes. Inhaled cannabinoids arrive fast, so you’ll know quickly how it sits with you.

Are nicotine-free vapes addictive?

Nicotine is the ingredient that makes most vapes addictive, so removing it takes away the main driver. CBD itself doesn’t appear to carry that risk. When the World Health Organization’s Expert Committee on Drug Dependence reviewed CBD in 2018, it concluded that CBD presents no potential for abuse or dependence. The habit side is a separate question. Hand-to-mouth routines and the 3pm break can stick with any vape, nicotine or not. Some people use that on purpose, trading one ritual for a calmer one. Others would rather drop the inhale entirely, and that’s where CBD gummies come in, since they cover the day without a device. Either way, pay attention to how often you reach for the pen. If you notice you’re vaping out of reflex rather than choice, set it down for a few days and see how that feels.

Can a nicotine-free vape help me quit smoking?

We can’t promise that, and no CBD product is an FDA-approved quit aid. The research is early and small. A 2013 pilot gave 24 smokers a CBD or placebo inhaler for one week: cigarette counts dropped about 40% on CBD and stayed flat on placebo, though cravings looked the same in both groups. UCLA is now running a larger placebo-controlled trial, with about 120 smokers, that’s due to wrap up in December 2026. What a nicotine-free vape can do is cover the hand-to-mouth part of the habit without putting nicotine back in. That’s the thinking behind our Nicotine Reset Kit, which pairs a CBD vape pen with CBD Stress and Sleep Gummies. For free, confidential help quitting, call 1-800-QUIT-NOW or ask your doctor about FDA-approved options. We walk through every study on our CBD and smoking page.

What’s actually in a TribeTokes CBD vape?

Two ingredients: full spectrum CBD oil and strain-specific terpenes. Most of the line adds CBG, a minor cannabinoid, to the CBD. There’s no propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, MCT oil, PEG or vitamin E acetate, the thinners many cartridges use to stretch their oil. Full spectrum means the extract keeps the plant’s other cannabinoids, including a trace of THC that stays below the federal 0.3% line. Recent batch COAs on our CBD vapes show 72 to 78% total cannabinoids. The terpenes set the flavor and character of each strain, from Northern Lights to Juicy Fruit, across indica, sativa and hybrid options. The hardware is either a ceramic-core 510 cartridge or a draw-activated disposable. Every batch report sits on our COA page, so you can read the numbers yourself instead of taking our word for it.

Should I get a nicotine-free disposable vape or a cartridge?

It comes down to one question: do you own a 510 battery? If not and you want zero setup, get a disposable. There are no buttons to learn, it’s draw-activated, and our CBD CBG disposable recharges over USB-C so you can finish the whole gram. If you don’t own a battery but would rather reuse hardware, a CBD vape starter kit pairs one with one or two CBD carts and saves up to $30 against buying them separately. If you already have a 510-thread battery, a CBD cartridge screws right on and is the easy refill. Live resin versions of both exist too, made for people who want a more strain-forward flavor. Can’t settle on a strain? The You Pick 2 and You Pick 3 packs let you mix flavors and save $20 or $30.

Will a CBD vape make me fail a drug test?

Yes. Our CBD vapes are full spectrum, so they carry trace THC within the federal 0.3% limit, and regular use builds up enough to trigger a positive result. Drug tests don’t look for Delta 9 THC itself. They look for THC metabolites, the compounds your body makes as it breaks THC down, and those collect over days or weeks of use. Labels like “non-intoxicating” or “hemp-derived” don’t change that. If you’re tested for work or sports, the only safe plan is to avoid all cannabinoid products, including full spectrum CBD, for as long as testing applies. That goes for our gummies and tinctures too. For how cannabis laws and testing work where you live, NORML keeps an up-to-date state-by-state guide.

How do I use a CBD vape for the first time?

Keep it slow. Take one gentle draw of two to three seconds from the mouthpiece and exhale. Our disposable has no button: you just inhale. Then wait about five minutes. Inhaled CBD arrives fast, and that pause tells you where you’ve landed before you go again. Most people settle on one or two draws per session. Short sips beat long pulls, because overheating the oil makes the vapor harsh and burns off the terpenes that carry the flavor. If you’re using a cartridge, start your battery on its lowest voltage setting and step up only if the vapor feels thin. Store your pen upright, away from heat, and out of reach of kids and pets. Individual experiences vary, and if you take any medication, check with your doctor before you start.
