Author name: Degelis Pilla, CFA

Degelis (“Dege,” pronounced “Dayj”) launched TribeTokes in 2017 after identifying a specific problem in the cannabis vaping market: most products were made with cutting agents and additives that had no place in a wellness brand. She built TribeTokes from zero into a multi-million dollar DTC brand with over 100,000 customers, a full cannabinoid product catalog, and a loyal wholesale retail network. Degelis is an active member of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization and a regular voice in both the cannabis and women-in-business spaces. She is a CFA charterholder (Chartered Financial Analyst), and holds her undergraduate business degree from the University of Virginia.

How to Choose a Strain for Sleep: Terpenes, COAs and Timing

The strain name is marketing. Granddaddy Purp sounds sleepy. Northern Lights sounds dreamy. But a Northern Lights cart with 0.3% myrcene will sedate you less than a hybrid labeled “balanced” with 1.9% myrcene, regardless of name recognition. What actually determines sedation is terpene concentration (specifically myrcene, linalool, and how they interact with the cannabinoid profile).

CBC and CBD molecular structures side by side with their distinctive receptor targets labeled showing cannabichromene as TRPA1 agonist and cannabidiol as CB1 negative allosteric modulator both produced from the CBGA precursor

CBC vs CBD: What’s the Difference? Complete Side-by-Side Comparison

CBC and CBD are both non-psychoactive cannabinoids made by the cannabis plant from the same precursor (CBGA). They’re often marketed as interchangeable “minor cannabinoids for inflammation.” They’re not interchangeable. CBC hits the TRPA1 pain/inflammation receptor harder than any other cannabinoid. CBD is a negative allosteric modulator at CB1 with broad effects at serotonin, TRPV1, and

Pain Relief: Topicals vs Edibles vs Vapes: Which Works Best?

Asking which format “works best” for pain is like asking whether a hammer or a screwdriver is better. The answer is the same: depends what you’re building. Topicals, edibles, and vapes don’t compete for the same job. They have completely different onset times, durations, bioavailability profiles, receptor targets, and appropriate use cases. The person who

What is the Terpene Myrcene?

If you love to cultivate cannabis, you’ve probably already heard about Myrcene (sometimes called beta myrcene) as the #1 most common terpene found in cannabis on the market today. What Is THCV? Complete Guide to the Energizing, Appetite-Suppressing Cannabinoid

THCV is the rare cannabinoid that does almost everything THC does, except backwards. Where THC triggers appetite (hello, munchies), THCV suppresses it. Where THC produces a heavy, sedating high at most doses, THCV produces something described more often as sharp, clear, and energizing. It’s structurally close to THC (one carbon chain shorter in its molecular

CBD for Senior Dogs: Mobility, Comfort & Adjusting the Dose as They Age

The counterintuitive thing about CBD and senior dogs: older dogs often need less, not more, than younger ones. Slower metabolism means the compound stays in their system longer. That’s actually an advantage. The catch is that senior dogs are also far more likely to be on other medications, which changes the drug interaction picture significantly.

TribeTokes tincture dropper bottle on cream background with icons showing sublingual absorption under the tongue versus digestive swallowing method comparison

Sublingual vs Swallowing Tinctures: Which Method Works Better & Faster?

A lot of people who tried a tincture and “didn’t feel anything” swallowed it immediately. That’s technically using a tincture. Just the slower, less predictable version. Sublingual absorption and digestive absorption produce meaningfully different experiences from the same product. Neither is wrong. They’re different tools for different situations, and knowing the difference makes both methods
